Oh those Seattle Seahawks and their practice squad games.
On Tuesday, the team released seventh-round rookie Damien Martinez, offensive lineman Amari Kight, and cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles from the practice squad to make room for defensive tackle Anthony Campbell, offensive lineman Sataoa Laumea, and defensive end Jalan Gaines.
Ahead of Wednesday’s practice, the Seahawks flipped their transactions. Martinez, Jean-Charles, and Kight are all back, while Laumea, Campbell, and Gaines are off the practice squad.
Why would the Seahawks do this? ESPN’s Brady Henderson looks to have cracked the case.
Given how heavily the Seahawks practice squad consists of players who have been with them throughout training camp and preseason, we may yet see this happen more throughout the season.
Here’s the updated practice squad.
