What is the story about?
The
official snap counts from the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys are in. Let’s take a look and run through some analysis.
OFFENSE
- Jordan Mailata is the only player on offense who’s played 100% of the Eagles’ offensive snaps this season. He’s also played 11.41% of the Eagles’ special teams snaps.
- Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall were able to play the entire game in their first action since returning from injury.
- Darius Cooper, WR1! In terms of offensive snaps played, at least. Despite this, he ranked fifth in targets with three.
- With DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks out, Makai Lemon logged career highs in snap count percentage, receptions (7), and yards (67). He tied his career-high for targets (8) and scored his first career touchdown. Good to see him showing some promise.
- Dallas Goedert, who missed two practices due to injury last week, understandably didn’t take his normal workload. He still ranked second in targets with seven.
- Dameon Pierce was the Eagles’ top running back in terms of usage since Saquon Barkley clearly wasn’t right. But Pierce also got banged up, which led to Elijah Mitchell seeing some playing time.
- Hollywood Brown looked pretty awesome, didn’t he?! I’d say any team looking to acquire a wide receiver would be very wise to give some good draft picks to the Eagles in exchange for him!
- Brown was a healthy scratch last week … with Elijah Moore active ahead of him. But then Brown played more in this game. Moore’s four targets this season have resulted in three receptions for 20 yards.
- Johnny Mundt played his lowest snap count percentage of the season on offense and his second-highest on special teams. His struggles are seemingly leading to less playing time.
- Eli Stowers saw some snaps in his NFL debut! With E.J. Jenkins gone, he’s the new TE3. Grant Calcaterra wasn’t far behind as TE4.
- Kudos to Saquon Barkley for trying to tough it out and play through injury. But it doesn’t seem very smart for the team to allow him to do that. He was ultimately able to produce 71 yards from scrimmage on nine total touches. But it remains to be seen if Monday night’s game set back his recovery timeline.
- Fred Johnson played one snap with the Eagles going with a six offensive lineman formation in the red zone.
DEFENSE
- Quinyon Mitchell briefly missed some time after getting banged up but quickly returned to the game. Jonathan Jones filled in for him.
- Jalen Carter played a lot of snaps and logged zero stats outside of two assisted tackles. The Cowboys’ interior offensive line is good. But Carter is the highest paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL. He is expected to be much better than he was on Monday night.
- With Jalyx Hunt and Jonathan Greenard less than 100% while playing through injuries, Arnold Ebiketie was the Eagles’ top edge defender in terms of playing time. He’s a fine rotational player but that workload just isn’t ideal for him. Ditto for A.J. Epenesa playing the second-most edge rusher snaps.
- Jordan Davis logged his highest snap count percentage of the season. He logged zero stats outside of four assisted tackles. It’s just not good enough.
- Kenny Moore continues to be the safety next to Andrew Mukuba in nickel packages.
- Last week, Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. effectively saw a 60-40 split. This week, it basically went down to 55-35 in favor of Campbell.
- Moro Ojomo entered this game banged up and got hurt again in the game.
- Ty Robinson played five snaps and had one assisted tackle and zero other stats. Jalen Carter played 59 snaps and had two assisted tackles and zero other stats.
- Rookie edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby played a minor role after being temporarily elevated from the practice squad for the second time this season. Only one elevation remaining.
SPECIAL TEAMS

- Kelee Ringo made a really nice special teams tackle on punt coverage.
- Marcus Epps continues to be limited to special teams duty after previously being the safety next to Mukuba in nickel defense.
- Willie Lampkin was limited to special teams duty after being replaced by Landon Dickerson in the starting lineup. Could be nice if they experimented with him as a blocking tight end/fullback.
- Braden Mann is legitimately one of the most useful players on the team this year, sadly.
- Britain Covey suffered an injury and was ruled out after his only play of the game.
DID NOT PLAY
ACTIVE: Joe Milton, Mac McWilliams
INACTIVE: Nolan Smith, DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Cole Payton, Michael Carter II, Lane Johnson, Jake Majors
- In Week 6, Payton was the Eagles’ backup quarterback behind McKee since Milton had only just joined the team. Now Milton is the backup with Payton serving as the emergency third quarterback.
- Nolan Smith might be able to return in Week 8.
- It’s currently unclear if DeVonta and/or Wicks can return in Week 8. We’ll find out more from the team’s practices this week.
- As a reminder, Johnson is set to remain on the Eagles’ roster until June 2027, even though he retired.
