Star Maryland wrestler Jaxon Smith plans to enter the transfer portal, he announced Wednesday on Instagram.
Smith sat out the 2025-26 campaign, his redshirt senior year, after suffering an ankle injury. The 184-pounder has one year of eligibility remaining, and that season will come away from College Park.
Smith was a bona fide star under Alex Clemsen with the Terps, placing in the top five in the Big Ten three years in a row from 2023-25 and becoming Maryland’s first All-American in six years in 2025.
