On the bright side for NC State, both Noah Rogers and Terrell Anderson are good to go this week, as neither appeared on the initial injury report for the Pitt game. On the unpleasant side, NC State’s two
starting offensive guards are listed as questionable.
The Wolfpack defense will again be without Sean Brown, AJ Richardson, and Brody Barnhardt. Safety JJ Johnson is out this week as well.
Anthony Carter has started every game at left guard this season, while Spike Sowells started the last three at right guard. Kamen Smith and Yousef Mugharbil also have earned starts at right guard, and Smith ended up logging 50 snaps against Notre Dame. Mugharbil has been in for just 17 offensive snaps since getting the start in Week 2.
State might slide Smith to left guard and start Val Erickson on the right side if neither Carter nor Sowells can play. Not ideal!
Pittsburgh isn’t in the best shape either. Starting linebackers Rasheem Biles and Kyle Louis—first and third on the team in tackles—are questionable. Biles didn’t play last week against Syracuse, while Louis was injured in that game. One of the replacements for that pair in Syracuse, Nick Lapi, is also questionable. Starting left tackle Jeff Persi is out for the third straight game.
