Your Oregon Ducks flew south to LA in Friday to take on the USC Trojans, looking to keep their strong start to the season going. Both sides were aggressive early, getting shots off in the first 6 minutes of the match, but it would be the Ducks who would break the seal first, with a Carly Cormack goal that went between the keeper’s legs. That would do it for scoring in the first half, with the Ducks leading 1-0.
The Trojans would come out aggressive in the 2nd half, scoring on their first shot attempt of the half, and tying things up at 1-1 just under five minutes into the half. The match would turn into a defensive battle the rest of the way, with both saving the only shots on goal the rest of the way, ending things in a 1-1 draw.
Another tough defensive battle again, but this time the Ducks weren’t the more aggressive team. USC out-shot Oregon 14-7 Friday, a rarity so far this season. But, all-in-all, a 1-1 draw is still better than a loss, especially this early in conference play. Let’s see if the ladies can get back into the win column next match, when they head to Evanston, IL to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.
