It is easy to forget that Bryan Zaragoza was seen as a really talented youngster just a few years ago. Due to the sudden nature of Granada’s promotion from the Spanish second division, Zaragoza’s release clause remained low compared to his market value. As he demonstrated his skill, dribbling abilities and scored a technically brilliant goal against FC Barcelona to boot, other big clubs were considering signing the young winger and the smallest of them all struck first, as Rasenballsport Leipzig
activated the Spaniard’s release clause in November. Bayern were aware of the situation, however, and came in with their own offer to beat out the energy drink advertisement to the signing of Zaragoza.
Unfortunately, it has not worked out at all in Munich. The soon-to-be 25-year-old has now been away from Bayern on loan for two years and has been publicly put on the transfer list. However, any effort to leave has so far been thwarted by persistent knee issues. Bild reports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Zaragoza missed the multi-day training camp at the Tegernsee:

Any lack of progress is not for the lack of trying, however. Bild reporter Nico Linner reports (again captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Zaragoza is one of the hardest working players in preseason:
Since his return from vacation, Zaragoza is always one of the first players at Säbener Straße in the morning and usually one of the last to leave in the afternoon, as he regularly completes two training sessions a day. He wants to recover as quickly as possible from his knee inflammation, and is making good progress. Zaragoza has recently shown renewed interest in fighting for a place in Bayern’s squad. While he isn’t completely ruling out a move, he’s only open to leave if he receives a good offer. A return to Spain would be his absolute priority in that case.
Espanyol are among clubs that have shown interest, but no concrete negotiations took place. Most clubs are unwilling to meet Bayern’s asking price and Zaragoza’s Bayern wages. As things stand, his future is completely open.
After two long years out on loan, perhaps Zaragoza will finally find a permanent home again.
