Eagles rooting guide for NFL Week 8 games

The eighth Sunday of the 2025 NFL regular season is approaching!

Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the remaining Week 8 games.

EAGLES GAME

NEW YORK GIANTS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:

It will be difficult to take the Eagles seriously if they get swept by the Giants. A win gets Philly to 6-2 ahead of a Week 9 bye. Go Birds.

NFC EAST

DALLAS COWBOYS at DENVER BRONCOS: The Cowboys are second in the NFC East at 3-3-1. The Eagles don’t want Dallas to build momentum. Root for the Broncos.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: The Commanders are third in the NFC East at 3-4. A loss drops Washington to 3-5. Then they have to play the Seahawks and the Lions. Root for the Chiefs.

If all goes right for the Eagles in Week 8, the division standings will look like this:

1) Eagles: 6-2
2) Cowboys: 3-4-1
3) Commanders: 3-5
4) Giants: 2-6

Would be nice.

NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE

MIAMI DOLPHINS at ATLANTA FALCONS: The Eagles would prefer to see a non-Bucs team win the NFC South. Root for the Falcons.

BUFFALO BILLS at CAROLINA PANTHERS: The Eagles would prefer to see a non-Bucs team win the NFC South. Root for the Panthers.

CHICAGO BEARS at BALTIMORE RAVENS: The Eagles would prefer to see the Bears win the NFC North instead of the Lions or Packers. Root for the Bears.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at HOUSTON TEXANS: The 49ers are currently ahead of the Eagles in the NFC playoff picture. And San Francisco has a really easy schedule, so, the Eagles need them to lose some games. Root for the Texans.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Two reasons to root for the Saints: 1) the Eagles don’t want to see the Bucs win the NFC South and 2) the Saints winning works towards them staying behind the Jets in the 2026 NFL Draft order (more context below). Root for the Saints.

GREEN BAY PACKERS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Packers are currently ahead of the Eagles in the NFC playoff picture. Need Green Bay to lose some more games. Root for the Steelers.

DRAFT PICK WATCH

NEW YORK JETS at CINCINNATI BENGALS: Thanks to last year’s Haason Reddick trade, the Eagles own the Jets’ third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The more the Jets lose, the more favorable the pick will be for the Birds. Root for the Bengals.

CLEVELAND BROWNS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: If the Jets win a couple games (ha), it’s possible the Browns could move ahead of them in the 2026 NFL Draft order. The Eagles don’t want to see that happen. Root for the Browns.

TENNESSEE TITANS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Eagles want to see the Jets stay ahead of the Titans in the 2026 NFL Draft order. Root for the Titans.
