We are back to work over at the Pride of Detroit YouTube channel with a breakdown of Detroit Lions first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, offensive tackle Blake Miller. Over the last few weeks, myself and my good friend and host of the Pride of Detroit PODcast, Meko Scott, watched all of the Miller film we could get our hands on. Unsurprisingly, we both came away very impressed with what we saw.
When you turn on the tape, it’s easy to see why evaluators around the NFL had a first-round grade on Miller,
even in what was widely considered to be a deep offensive tackle class. He is a consistent, intelligent player that is rarely fooled when pass protecting. From an athleticism standpoint, you can clearly see the traits that made Miller such a standout performer at the NFL combine, where he earned a 9.90 RAS score. He has strong hands when he latches onto a defender, and is really light on his feet when pulling in space, making him a natural fit next to second-year right guard Tate Ratledge.
When it comes to his technique, Miller’s game is relatively clean along with some things that will need to be ironed out during his early years in Detroit—specifically with his one-handed punch and his pass-sets. This is where it pays to have offensive line coach Hank Fraley on staff. A coach with a history of development that has had success bringing along young talent for the Lions.
