Barcelona president Joan Laporta had been talking about bitter rivals Real Madrid once again
and says Los Blancos “want to destroy everything.”Real Madrid have continued to criticize referees this season and have also launched an attack on La Liga president Javier Tebas, calling on him to step down after he compared the club’s management with Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
Laporta has now had his say and gave his backing to Tebas as he faced the media ahead of Barca’s game with Betis later
today.
“I want to talk about what worries us, and our coach has already mentioned it, which is this upcoming match against Betis. I should add that they are a great team and one of the most in-form and best-playing teams in LaLiga, along with Barça. As for the Clásico, there will be time to discuss that later, but I do want to say how fortunate we are to have Javier Tebas as president of LaLiga, who has the experience required for these matters,” he said, per Mundo Deportivo.
“He also has sound judgment in combating these attacks that Real Madrid is launching against LaLiga. It seems they want to destroy everything, they want to destroy LaLiga, they want to destroy the Technical Committee of Referees. They aren’t happy with the Federation either; they aren’t happy with anything.
“It’s a good thing the president of LaLiga is aware of this and has already been through a thousand battles; in this sense, he has the experience to combat these attacks, which are unbecoming of a club that is a member of LaLiga, because they have a position or attitude of constantly attacking everything that is done.”
Laporta’s comments come just a week before Barcelona are due to host Real Madrid in La Liga at the Camp Nou. The champions currently sit top of the table, six points clear of Jose Mourinho’s side.
