The Los Angeles Rams expect receiver Puka Nacua to be sidelined in practice over the next few days, according to ESPN’S Adam Schefter. Nacua left Tuesday’s joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys with what was later reported to be a groin injury, and the issue was and continues to be considered “minor”.
Nacua has had a litany of issues on his plate this year, perhaps the least of which is his groin.
First of all, Nacua awaits to find out if he will be suspended by the NFL for off-field headlines
that may have violated the league’s personal conduct policy. There is no official word handed down by the head offices yet, but Schefter believes at least a one-game suspension is well within the real of possibilities.
Second, Nacua is looking to get a new contract from the Rams.
Nacua recently switched agents, signaling a desire to be the highest-paid receiver in NFL history, but there have not even been rumors that the two sides are negotiating a deal at the moment. This could be because of Nacua’s off-field distractions, and it was reported in the offseason that L.A. was hesitant to make a deal until they became comfortable that he has matured.
Number three, Nacua has already been a constant injury concern. His physical playing style puts his body on the line play after play, something that has cost him games in both college and the NFL.
So:
- Can Puka Nacua stay out of trouble?
- Can Puka Nacua stay healthy?
- Will Puka Nacua play or be paid? Or both?
For now, the groin injury may just sideline him for a few practices. That’s the least of his worries.
