45+3’ – Garner intercepts and runs with the ball, long ball looking for Barry that Maguire cuts out.
Branthwaite slides in to tackle Rashford, ball falls to Cunha and the Everton defender does well to cut that out too.
Halftime whistle goes, the players walk off and Brooks is getting booed heartily.
45+1’ – George running at the defence and Everton have United pinned in their own box. The visitors can’t clear and now a throw-in for the Blues. Myko’s long throw bobbles about, falls to Branthwaite but
his low shot is straight at the goalie.
44’ – Fernandes falls over like a soft flan, and the crowd is irate again. Brooks of course doesn’t have the balls to book him for simulation.

42’ – Barry takes a shot that’s charged down from the right side of the box. No open looks for the Blues.
And just as I say that, Rohl with a lovely delivery from the right, it beats Maguire and Barry cannot direct his header and it goes over, oooh.
38’ – Rohl is back on the right now. Odd that.
Mbeumo cuts down George and the fans are livid that there’s still no booking for a United player. Garner into the box, headed tamely wide by Barry.
36’ – Rohl and Myko have swapped wings to deal with the threat of Rashford. Doesn’t matter as the England international beats Myko too but Tarky is over to clear for a corner.
Deep corner, Branthwaite lands heavily and is winded as the ball goes out for a goalkick.
33’ – Johnson completely ineffective for me, done absolutely nothing so far. Getting caught offside twice by that fossil Luke Shaw. And now he’s booked too fouling Cunha just outside the box. Freekick from a short corner position, Fernandes over the ball, Armstrong heads away the dinked cross.
30’ – Rashford whips in a low cross with pace, Branthwaite does well clearing that before Rohl is fouled.
Garner coming into the game is certainly helping the Blues when we have the ball.
Lammens drops the ball going up for an aerial with Dewsbury-Hall, he’s certainly weak there and we should take advantage.
28’ – James Garner finally looks to have woken up and immediately the Blues look better in possession. The move ends with Brennan Johnson’s second offside of the day, needs to be better with that against the wily veteran Luke Shaw.
25’ – Everton’s midfield is struggling to keep up with the trio of Mainoo, Tielemans and Fernandes, can’t get close to them and the visitors are moving the ball too quickly.
The Toffees are horribly limited here without Iliman Ndiaye, just no out ball or creativity right now.
20’ – Fernandes in space, and he takes a shot that goes off Branthwaite, corner. Rohl heads away, vicious volley from Dalot into a crowd that Tarkowski blocks, Barry heads back to Pickford.
More trouble as Rashford beats Rohl down the left, cutback is run over by Dalot and Cunha is unmarked, his sidefooted shot goes over Tarky and Pickford and over the bar too. Phew.
18 ‘ – Tielemans takes a pot shot from 30 or so yards away, bounces awkwardly just in front of Pickford but he gathers calmly.
16’ – George looking lively here with the ball. He’s looked like Everton’s best source of attack so far.
12’ – Diogo Dalot is turned by Tyrique George and left for dead, he tugs his man back down but somehow the ref deems that not a yellow card. The stadium is howling with derision, especially as seconds later he books Harrison Armstrong for throwing Fernandes to the ground. Careful John Brooks, your bias is showing.
9’ – Ball into the United box and Barry goes down going for the ball, that was no penalty despite what the home fans believe. Strange from Lammens with his reluctance to come for that ball when it popped in the air, something for the Blues to exploit.
8’ – United overlap on their left, cross into the box from Shaw, Mbeumo’s cushioned header finds Fernandes with a volley, and it comes off the top of the crossbar! Close shave for the Blues, Pickford was nowhere near it.
5’ – Maguire is finally back up and we resume the game, with all the heat having been taken out of it with that long delay.
1’ – Harry Maguire is down early after a collision with Thierno Barry. Looks like his face ran into Barry’s shoulder going up for an aerial ball.
Quick shot of Angus Kinnear in the stands, he looks quite perturbed as he should be. Kudos to him for showing up, he’s going to receive a lot of stick today from the fans.
The siren has gone off, Z-Cars has played and the entire stadium is singing as one “Forever Everton” and the Toffees kick off.
