GAME 8: Saturday, October 25, 2025
Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1) at South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4)
Columbia, SC ~ 2:30/3:30 ABC
- Editorial: Nick Saban had so few losses during his tenure at Alabama, that most of them are pretty memorable. Among them is the 2010 defeat at the hands of SC and the one-game wonder Stephen Garcia. That Crimson Tide team was ranked No. 1 and full of Rat Poison. This 2025 Gamecocks team is certainly not on the level of that team 15 years ago, but if Bama does not have their heads right crazy things can happen. It’s SC’s Homecoming and Garcia is in town. The fans will be up.
- Coach: Shane Beamer is 32–26 overall and 16–21 in the SEC. The numbers aren’t perfect but he has topped Clemson two of the last three years and the fanbase loves him. There has been a lot of chatter about Beamer filling the opening at Virginia Tech where he grew up as his daddy coached the Hokies for several decades. The distractions cannot help matters in Columbia-East.
- SC 2025: The ‘Cocks started off strong with a solid W over Va Tech. After a cupcake win, Vanderbilt clocked SC in Columbia 31-7. A nine point loss at Mizzou was followed by their only SEC win over lowly Kentucky. South Carolina then managed only 17 combined points in defeats to LSU and Oklahoma.
- Series: Alabama is 14-3 all-time against the Gamecocks but are 4-3 since 2001. More recently, the Tide topped SC last season in T-town 27-25. Bama won on the road by 24 in 2019. Before that was the fiasco of 2010 also in South Carolina.
- Injuries: TE/H-Back Danny Lewis and WR Lotzeir Brooks are both out. No reasons have been given. FWIW randos on Twitter say Brooks is sick, not injured. RG Geno VanDeMark has been upgraded from questionable to probable. For South Carolina, RT Cason Henry is out but he has not played since the Missouri game (Sep 20).
- Weather: Columbia should have partly cloudy skies and a high of 69°.
- TV Announcers: Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer and Katie George.
- Radio: Chris Stewart, Tyler Watts, and Corey Reamer on Alabama Radio.
- Vegas: FanDuel’s point spread has Alabama as a 11.5 point favorite with an Over/Under of 47.5.
