Welcome to the most chaotic snap count breakdown of the season. With 17 players on the injured reserve and physically unable to report list, three more inactive due to injury, four starters being healthy
scratches, two players who dropped out of action on Sunday with injury and the Green Bay Packers trying to sit difference-makers as much as possible, the data this week is inverted.
Really, based on how the Packers played their players in Week 18, the more snaps that a player got against the Minnesota Vikings, the lower that person is on the depth chart. With that out of the way, let’s get into what happened in the season finale.
Quarterback
- 50 snaps: Clayton Tune
- 0: Jordan Love
- Malik Willis (inactive – shoulder/hamstring)
The Packers will be in the market for a quarterback in the NFL draft (I wouldn’t count the team using as early as a fourth-round pick at the position). Clayton Tune made his second start in his NFL career, his first with Green Bay, on Sunday.
Tune had -7 passing yards on the night after you include the four sacks he took for 41 yards. In his NFL career, he’s now completed 21 of 38 passes (55 percent) for 112 yards (2.9 yards per pass), no touchdowns, three interceptions and has taken 12 sacks for 85 yards. His net passing yards per attempt is 0.7 yards, before ever including his interceptions.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that Jordan Love, who had to play backup in this game because of Malik Willis’ injuries, would have handed the ball off on every single play, had been forced into game action.
Running Back
- 27: Emanuel Wilson (4 SPT)
- 23: Chris Brooks (8 SPT)
- Josh Jacobs (inactive – healthy scratch)
The Packers only went into this game with two running backs, even though the team ran the ball 70 percent of the time in this game — despite being down on the scoreboard for over 50 minutes.
Receiver
- 50: Matthew Golden
- 47: Jakobie Keeney-James (9 SPT)
- 13: CB Bo Melton (9 SPT)
- 8: Jayden Reed
- 0: Christian Watson
- 0: Romeo Doubs
- Dontayvion Wicks (inactive – concussion)
Rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden only had eight receiving yards in this game, but he was on the field for every single offensive snap against the Vikings. His former college quarterback, Tune, just couldn’t get him the ball.
The leading receiver in the game was practice squad call-up Jakobie Keeney-James, who had two receptions for 15 yards. He also handled kickoff and punt return duties, to varying success. Keeney-James let several punts hit the ground and roll. He also kneeled a kickoff for a 20-yard touchback when his foot was outside of the goal line. He did get a 26-yard return, though.
Jayden Reed was sidelined throughout the first half until cornerback/receiver Bo Melton went down with a knee injury. That forced Reed into action. Melton was never officially ruled out by the team, only listed as questionable to return.
Tight End
- 44: Drake Dabney (9 SPT)
- 36: Josh Whyle (13 SPT)
- 2: Luke Musgrave
Because of the limited bodies elsewhere, the Packers actually had to use their tight ends on special teams in this game, which they really haven’t done in 2025. While Josh Whyle and Luke Musgrave have generally split snaps in recent weeks, the fact that the team tried to put Musgrave in bubble wrap hints at the team’s priorities.
Offensive Line
- 50: LT Jordan Morgan (1 SPT)
- 50: LG: Lecitus Smith
- 50: C Jacob Monk (1 SPT)
- 50: RG Anthony Belton (1 SPT)
- 50: RT Darian Kinnard (1 SPT)
- 0: Rasheed Walker (1 SPT)
- 0: Aaron Banks (1 SPT)
- 0: Sean Rhyan (1 SPT)
- Zach Tom (inactive – knee/back)
The Packers played their preferred field goal protection unit on the final play of the game, so that the team could avoid a shutout. Outside of that, it was Jordan Morgan, Lecitus Smith, Jacob Monk, Anthony Belton and Darian Kinnard (left to right) on the offensive line throughout the night. Morgan, who has been starting at right tackle while Zach Tom has been out with his injuries, and Belton, in his usual right guard spot, had to play offense in this game due to Green Bay’s roster situation.
Defensive End
- 51: Barryn Sorrell (9 SPT)
- 42: Brenton Cox Jr. (9 SPT)
- 30: Collin Oliver (10 SPT)
- 13: Arron Mosby (18 SPT)
- 0: Kingsley Enagbare (8 SPT)
- 0: Rashan Gary
- 0: Lukas Van Ness
Outside of Kingsley Enagbare playing some special teams snaps, the Packers kept their top three defensive ends on ice in this game. Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox Jr. and Collin Oliver played almost all (123 of 136) of the snaps at the position. Both Sorrell and Oliver were healthy scratches in Week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens, but Sorrell flashed on Sunday.
Defensive Tackle
- 44: Warren Brinson (4 SPT)
- 42: Nazir Stackhouse (4 SPT)
- 30: Jonathan Ford
- 5: Colby Wooden
- 0: Karl Brooks (1 SPT)
For the most part, it was Warren Brinson, Nazir Stackhouse and Jonathan Ford at defensive tackle against the Vikings. Karl Brooks’ only snap played was on field goal protection on the final play of the game. Ford was just picked up off waivers this week.
Linebacker
- 64: Jamon Johnson (14 SPT)
- 64: Ty’Ron Hopper (18 SPT)
- 25: Isaiah McDuffie (12 SPT)
- Quay Walker (inactive – healthy scratch)
- Edgerrin Cooper (inactive – healthy scratch)
Ty’Ron Hopper made the start at middle linebacker on Sunday, as the team attempted to limit the snaps that Isaiah McDuffie played. The Packers only came into this game with three linebackers, so it would have been interesting to see who they would have moved into the box (likely a safety) had someone gone down. Thankfully, there weren’t any injuries at the position.
Cornerback
- 59: Jaylin Simpson (9 SPT)
- 32: Shemar Bartholomew (11 SPT)
- 32: Trevon Diggs (2 SPT)
- 5: Keisean Nixon
- 0: Carrington Valentine (1 SPT)
After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur gave lip service to the idea of Trevon Diggs starting in the wild card round, but I’m not sure I buy it. The Packers went out of their way to play Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine just six combined snaps, compared to the 48 that starters Javon Bullard and Evan Williams played elsewhere in the secondary.
I’ll have to see it to believe it. I’m assuming that Nixon and Valentine start next week, with Diggs being the next man up.
Safety
- 63: Kitan Oladapo (22 SPT)
- 63: Johnathan Baldwin (14 SPT)
- 21: Javon Bullard
- 19: Evan Williams (8 SPT)
- Xavier McKinney (inactive – healthy scratch)
With Xavier McKinney being a healthy scratch, both Javon Bullard and Evan Williams had to play defense today, because all of the remaining nickelbacks on the Packers’ roster (Bullard and Kitan Oladapo) are safeties. This is where Zayne Anderson’s placement on the injured reserve hurt the most.
Bullard ended up going down with a knee injury, but both LaFleur and Bullard have said that he’s fine.
