If you were anticipating Jack Pyburn making either a triumphant or tumultuous return to Baton Rouge, you can go ahead and put those thoughts to rest.
Pyburn needed to clear waivers by 1 p.m. today in order to make his way back to LSU’s roster, and right before the deadline, news broke that the Kansas City Chiefs had indeed claimed Pyburn off waivers.
The other good news for Pyburn is that he is set to reunite with two former LSU Tigers who are also rookies with the Chiefs: first-round pick Mansoor
Delane and seventh-round pick and former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
Do not take this as a NFL GM attempting to be petty. That is not the case, as Pyburn earned the opportunity to be on an NFL 53-man roster after leading the preseason with four sacks. He also recorded multiple sacks in two games, along with multiple tackles for loss.
While the controversy surrounding other players who participated in the NFL this preseason and are set to return to college still remains, the questions surrounding Pyburn have now come to an end.
Hopefully, Pyburn goes on to have a great rookie season with the Chiefs.
