With the season set to kick off this coming weekend, I asked the following question this past week:
What questions do you have, or do you want answered, by the 2026-2027 version of your Miami Dolphins? What do you hope, want to, or expect to see from this team in year one of yet another rebuild?
Below are some of your thoughts and answers-
Urthling expects to see the usual growing pains of a rebuild, but also hopes to see growth from the team as the season progresses.
What questions do you have or do you want
answered by the 2026-2027 version of your Miami Dolphins?
Is Bobby Slowik ‘the guy’ for our OC position? Is he the Bobby Slowik who developed CJ Stroud into Rookie of the Year… or is he the bum who got fired the next season? What did he learn about run-game design from Mike McDaniel?
What do you hope, want to or expect to see from this team in year one of yet another rebuild?
I hope to see: Disciplined, team-first play. Physicality, grit and competitiveness. Incremental improvement and player development throughout the season. The gelling of this team’s ‘identity’, hopefully taking on a mindset similar to their head coach.
What do I expect to see: Lots of mistakes from the young roster. Inconsistency as the rookies ‘figure it out’… high highs and low lows. Constant churning of the bottom 5 roster spots and the practice squad. Jeff Hafley proves he belongs as an NFL coach, despite a bumpy ride.
MiamiItaliano is concerned with the cap hell that Grier left us in.
This season, who can we cut with minimum cap penalty? I’m assuming it’s a majority of the roster. What’s the dead cap hit for next season? We already know this season is the 7th circle of financial hell.
WoodStrock1 seems concerned that decent overall play from Willis could prevent the team from drafting a possible future great quarterback.
Is good, but not great play from Malik Willis going to prevent them from drafting a potentially franchise changing QB in next years draft, assuming they are in a position to do so?
The Earl asked possibly the most important question of this coming season.
Is Malik Willis the answer?
Yarganaught has some solid/great questions for this upcoming season.
Will this team step up for an unproven coach… will they improve each week?
Will there be a weak link position/group (e.g. Secondary)?
Will the HC be able to game plan and devise plays which exploit opponents’ weaknesses?
USMCFinPhreak is another who knows that the top question this coming season is if Willis is finally the answer at starting QB or not.
What questions do you have or do you want answered by the 2026-2027 version of your Miami Dolphins?
- At what point in the season will it be decided whether Willis is or is not the QB of the future.
- Are they willing to roll the dice with Willis long enough to gain a few wins and possibly lose a top 3 draft pick?
What do you hope, want to or expect to see from this team in year one of yet another rebuild?
- I hope to see Willis succeed and become our franchise quarterback, and negate my 2nd question above.
- I want to see a competitive, disciplined, focused, and spirited team, regardless of the game’s outcome.
- I expect to see the entire team make strides to improve every week.
Phoenix6 is concerned with the defense finally playing tough-nosed football.
What questions do you have or do you want answered by the 2026-2027 version of your Miami Dolphins?
Is the defense going to play with hard tackling or are they going to continue to play flag football?
What do you hope, want to or expect to see from this team in year one of yet another rebuild?
Cohesiveness, discipline, to overcome.
Dolphster hopes to see the team put on the field this season as a unit that will be the foundation for the team’s future.
What I hope to see is a core group of young players step up and become a foundation to begin building a championship team around in the next few years.
RobNJ65 just wants to see this new regime follow what works, not panic, and not try to buy our way into winning.
Will this new regime stick to the game plan and not drive us back into salary cap hell??
cyberflea just wants to know when the Phins are going to win the big one.
