The Syracuse Orange will wrap up the 2026 spring practice schedule tomorrrow night with the spring game. Kickoff is 7:30 in the JMA Dome and the game will be streaming on both ACCNX and Cuse.TV (cuse.com).
With this being the first chance for us to get a look at a lot of new players, we went to the roundtable to get a sense of what to watch for tomorrow:
Which player on the offense are you most excited to see on Saturday?
Kevin: I’m going with Ahmad Miller. Syracuse needs to find more consistency in the
running game so can the Jackson State transfer take the reins as the lead back in 2026? It’s hard to learn a lot in these scrimmages, but I’m curious to see what Miller brings to the running game.
Dom: Based on the observations I’ve seen being publicly released, I’m starting to become intrigued with Amari Odom. Steve Angeli’s return from injury is a top storyline for the Orange heading into the season, and the lack of pop at QB behind him was a big reason why Syracuse flopped after he went down. Odom also brings some dynamism as an accurate passer and runner. Even if Angeli is back, I could see him getting snaps still in some hybrid looks to throw off opposing defenses.
Which player on the defense or special teams are you most excited to see on Saturday?
Kevin: Jimmy Gregg is next up for #PunterU and after being spoiled with Jack Stonehouse, I”m curious to see if the freshman is ready to live up to his billing as one of the top punters in the 2026 class.
Dom: Chris Peal. I think he’s an early, top-five breakout candidate for the Orange. He’s easily a core piece for the 2026 Syracuse defense and after starting all of last year, really emerge on that side of the field.
Is there a position group you’re focused on during the spring game?
Kevin: Wide Receivers. I don’t think we can tell a lot about the lines in this setting, so I’d rather look at the players on the outside. I’m curious to see how the revamped wide receivers fare against a secondary that projects to be pretty strong.
Dom: The entire defensive line, mainly since it was such a weakness in 2026 and there are so many new pieces there: young returners, a couple experienced transfers and straight-up newcomers. It’s a first, way-too-early look at how that all could look like.
