Alexander Isak has resumed training Friday ahead of Sunday’s match at the Etihad, and the Sweden international has been called up for international duty despite his recent fitness issues. Given that Isak has been out
for three weeks it’s unlikely he will be fit enough to start Sunday, but could possibly feature from the bench.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed that he expects Alisson Becker back “immediately” after the international break — as had previously been predicted — suggesting that the Reds man will not be pushing his first choice goalkeeper’s fitness.
Jeremie Frimpong will take a bit more time, and has been ruled out of the Nottingham Forest match following the break in Slot’s mind at least.
Despite the mixed news, the boss reported no new injury or fitness concerns ahead of Sunday’s trip to Manchester.
