UFC Vegas 120 went down this past Saturday night (Aug. 8, 2026) inside the revamped Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, leaving several fighters feeling the post-fight blues.
Among them was Amanda Lemos, who suffered her third straight loss after coming up short against Alexia Thainara. And Darren Elkins, who was sent into violent retirement with a first round, 35-second knockout loss at the hands of Yadier del Valle (re-live that here). But, which fighter is suffering from the worst post-fight hangover,
now a few days removed from the show?
Coming into his latest headlining bout against Quillan Salkilld, Gamrot was hoping to build off the momentum from submitting Esteban Ribovics at UFC 327 via second round submission (see it here). Currently ranked No. 6, “Gamer” was hoping to crack the Top 5 and return to the championship conversation for an ever-elusive title shot.
Unfortunately, his road there will now be longer after running into an up-and-coming star who was out to make a statement of his own.
Indeed, Salkilld came out aggressive and tagged Gamrot right away. After a few successful strikes and scrambles, the fight ended up on the ground where the Aussie was able to get the hooks in, latch on to a rear-naked choke and secure a nasty submission win, giving him his thirteenth straight win, which will get on the fast-track to a title eliminator fight.
As for Gamrot, the loss was devastating to say the least because it will cost him a few spots in the rankings, moving his 155-pound championship goalposts out even further. The division is only getting stronger — and younger — as evidenced by Salkilld’s impressive performance. Gamrot, meanwhile, is pushing 35 years of age, and while he isn’t exactly washed, his body has seen better days.
That is not to say that he can’t rack up some impressive victories moving forward; however, he is going to have to be near-perfect to accomplish his goals at this stage of his career. He has the skill, heart and technique to do it, it remains to be seen, however, if this devastating loss doesn’t take a lot of wind from his sails.
As far as what could possibly be next for Gamrot, perhaps another fight against Rafael Fiziev is in order. The two men initially threw down three years ago in Las Vegas, resulting in a technical knockout win for Gamrot after Fiziev unfortunately suffered a devastating knee injury in round two (see it again here). Since then, Fiziev has gone 2-2, which includes his most recent win against Manuel Torres (see it here), while Gamrot has a 3-3 record since that win.
To that end, neither man has done anything extraordinary; therefore, why not run it back to see if we can get a more convincing finish this time around.
