Bryan Battle already has a new home.
The recently released UFC veteran and former Ultimate Fighter winner has inked a deal with Dirty Boxing Championship and will compete at the upcoming DBX 3 event on Aug. 29 from inside the The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami, Florida. Battle’s opponent has yet to be determined, but the contest will be held at 185 pounds (let’s see if he can make weight).
See below (via Dirty Boxing):
Battle, who produced a 7-1 (1 NC) record under the UFC banner, was released by the promotion earlier this week following a big weight miss at UFC 319 last weekend. Unfortunately for Battle, this was not the first time he had missed weight as a member of the UFC roster. In fact, the 33-year-old was moving up from welterweight and still couldn’t hit the mark at 185 pounds. UFC was forced to cancel his middleweight matchup against Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC 319 and Battle was subsequently released.
At least the former TUF winner took responsibility for his mistake(s).
Given Battle’s UFC track record and overall fighting ability, it was only a matter of time before another promotion picked him up. To be honest, Professional Fighters League (PFL) appeared to be the most likely landing spot for the UFC veteran, but Dirty Boxing ultimately won the Bryan Battle sweepstakes.
Fight fans will have to wait to see who Battle is fighting on Aug. 29 and how he’ll fare under the unique ruleset of dirty boxing.
