Michael Olise has been an absolute joy to watch at Bayern Munich this season. If not for Harry Kane, the Frenchman would be the best player on the team. Vincent Kompany certainly thinks so too, with the former Manchester City captain comparing him to one of their all-time greatest ever players, Kevin De Bruyne.
“His mindset is what makes him so special,” Kompany told the media (via @iMiaSanMia). “As I’ve already said a few times: He’s a lad who works with great attention to detail, who also gets frustrated
sometimes when things don’t work out 100 per cent.”
“But as a coach, you’re also very challenged because you have to think at the very highest level,” he added. “But it’s easier to have a player who works on himself at that level. I’ve always compared him to Kevin de Bruyne, I always think I see that in him.”
“What Michael does, the way he shoots, he dribbles, right and left foot, I feel like I’ve seen that in a player before. I’m sure he’ll get even better and make Bayern even better in the future.”
This is high praise for the Frenchman, but not unwarranted. From the perspective of FC Bayern fans, he is doing things on the right wing not seen since the days of prime Arjen Robben. Michael Olise is a truly special player, and Bayern Munich will want to hold on to him for the foreseeable future.
