Duke’s charmed season continues as the Blue Devils rallied to take out Louisville 70-65 in overtime to earn its second-straight ACC Championship.
Not that it was easy.
Louisville was the dominant team for much of the afternoon and was in control, or should have been, at the end of regulation. However, Duke, down 55-51, with 4:26 to play, rallied and tied the game on a Delaney Thomas layup with 0:04 left to play. Taina Mair blocked a Louisille shot attempt to force overtime.
And overtime belonged to
Duke. The Blue Devils outscored the Cardinals, 10-5, and walked off with the hardware.
Delaney Thomas and Taina Mair had 19 each. Thomas had 9 rebounds and Mair, who won the tournament MVP, had 12.
With the win, Duke moves to 24-8 on the season and now waits to see what its NCAA draw will be.
