Legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer retired from the German national football team last year, which is a void that will be incredibly difficult to fill. There are positive updates on his potential return to the national team, and it would appear that his Bayern Munich teammate Aleksandar Pavlović wants to see it happen.
“You always want to have Manu in goal,” the young midfielder said (Bild as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “I know that, and you know that too, that he’s a world-class goalkeeper.
But that’s also up to the coach to decide. I can’t say much about that right now.”
The 21-year-old Munich native is also a firm believer in Neuer being convinced on a return to international duty, like midfielder Toni Kroos did. At the moment, with regular Neuer understudies Marc-André ter Stegen and Oliver Baumann unavailable, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann called up Noah Atobulu.
The Germany national team is up once again and has two very winnable matches on its slate for the October international break against both Luxembourg and Northern Ireland.
Julian Nagelsmann will not be operating with a full roster thanks to injuries and illnesses, but this should give him a chance to further make his mind up on several players who are on the bubble for the 2026 World Cup.
