Dillon Danis has been banned for all future UFC events and if it was up to newly-crowned welterweight champion Islam Makhachev, “El Jefe” would also be banned from United States of America. Unfortunately, I don’t think any other country will take him. so we’re probably stuck with the former Bellator MMA welterweight for the foreseeable future.
All that’s missing is the red nose and floppy shoes.
Danis was part of a massive cageside brawl during the UFC 322 pay-per-view (PPV) event last weekend inside
Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City, which should not come as a surprise when you consider his long and ugly history with Team Makhachev, dating back to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bitter feud with Conor McGregor in late 2018.
It would appear those wounds have yet to heal.
It doesn’t sound like Makhachev and Co. are ready to close the book just yet.
“When you talk about someone like for the last five years, when you meet them, you have to answer for what you said,” Makhachev said at the UFC 322 press conference. “Today, I don’t think he answered. He still says a lot of things about our team and today he coming and somebody just meet him. He talked about these guys bad and today the guys just meet him. That’s it. [Danis] has to be banned from this country also.”
Danis returns to competition against Anthony Taylor next month in Dubai.
