According to a report by Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) Harry Kane has taken over the role of pregame pep talks at Bayern Munich — a role previously held by Thomas Müller.
According to the report, the England
captain is often the man to say the final words to the team before kickoff. His talks often focus on showing mentality and not being afraid to go for duels. Being one of the most senior players at the club, Kane is highly qualified for the role — but not uniquely so. Others like Joshua Kimmich and team captain Manuel Neuer would also be expected to do the team talks.
So it is a little surprising that Kane has established himself as the go-to man now that Thomas Müller is no longer available. Before the game against Hoffenheim, he reportedly said: “These are the games in which the leagues are decided. You have to win these games. We can’t think it will all come easily.” Bayern Munich went on to win the game 4-1.
The takeaway here is that Harry Kane has established himself as a dressing room presence at Bayern Munich. He’s not someone who just lets his football do the talking, he is actively involved in leading and motivating the players around him. With Thomas Müller no longer at the club, FC Bayern lost a major voice in the dressing room — but it’s good that someone has stepped up to fill the gap.
