Kia Ora, Spurs fans! Yes, that’s how Matty always opens his articles, and I’m not him, nor am I Down Under. However, Matty IS in Sydney and will be attending today’s Tottenham Hotspur friendly against Sydney FC live… as press! This is pretty exciting for him, and for us as we’ll have an actual presence at a Spurs friendly for the first time since I was in Chicago allllllllll the way back in 2014 when Spurs played vs. the Chicago Fire.
Matty’s got some fun stuff planned including his usual post match
thread, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with. In the mean time, we’ve got a friendly to watch, and it’s at an UNGODLY hour — a 5:45 p.m. kick-off here in Eastern Time of the United States and earlier the farther west you go. A little better if you’re in the UK, but it’s still a weekday so put those iPads on the trash can under your desk and get ready to surrepetitiously stream!
No Mateus Fernandes today — he’s not hurt, he’s just rested — but there’s a thought we might see a few more first team players than we have the past two friendlies. I’d still expect a good mix of first teamers and youth, though, and plenty of rotation. Expect some weird lineups, too. That’s just the way friendlies are — it’s not about winning, it’s about fitness and tactics and experience. But don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll all overreact to something that happens today.
