Bayern Munich and Arsenal both took the lead and then gave it back to their opponent. Goals from Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane were bookended by close range rockets from Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice. A 2-2 draw was a fair result in a match that both sides have runs of momentum and concession.
In the postgame interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany praised his team for a fantastic effort.
“This is a phase with so many games in a row, we’re already looking towards the next game,” said Kompany.
“We faced a tough opponent today. We had our moments, we actually created some big chances I didn’t think we’d create before the game. It’s a pity that we lost our momentum a bit in the last minutes of the game. It was a winnable game, but we shouldn’t forget that Arsenal is a difficult opponent, so it’s never over. It was an intensive game, the boys gave everything. It probably was a fair result in the end. Now we’re going to play the second-placed team in the Bundesliga next – and that’s the most important thing right now.”
Bayern remains undefeated in the 2026/27 season but this is their third draw in the last four matches. With tough matches ahead against Freiburg, Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, and Mainz before the November international break, Bayern will continue to push forward with the combination of 11 players who are available on any given night.
