We knew Notre Dame VS Miami was going to be huge 10 months ago, but now it’s finally here — and it truly is win or go home for the Irish. Rightly or wrongly, this is the gauntlet thrown down by the college football playoff committee.
So what do we want to see on Saturday?
CALL 911
Notre Dame needs to come out and play with a sense of urgency that we haven’t seen in a long time. Too many times this team has operated as a crock pot rather than a deep fryer, and that has to change. Miami has been in a few fight
already this season, so even if the Irish get up on Miami early — they HAVE TO go hard for the full 60 minutes (which makes the possibility of it only going 59 minutes and 59 seconds a moot point).
CHANGE OF SCENERY
Notre Dame’s use of music, the DJ, and entrance has been a topic of fan discussion all season long. To be honest — it’s dreadful and deadful (yes, of course I know that’s not a word but I’ll stop using it when the powers that be figure this out). There has been hope, however, that there will be some fun changes (hopefully fore the best) against Miami. Obviously the whole wristband Holtz tribute will be something — but we need more and the team deserves more. TLDR… “We Will Rock You” has to have a violent death.
IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE CLOSE
Miami is the No. 1 team in the country, and they are a good football team. However… this isn’t like a 2017 Georgia or a 2018 Clemson. The Canes have their own issues and the loss of Malachi Toney is more than “just a good WR” as he was a central part of the offense. Notre Dame has its own issues and own losses to deal with, but there are few reasons why Notre Dame can’t dominate from start to finish. Miami fans talk about how the Canes don’t need this win (The Pat Narduzzi Effect) and they’re right — so make it hurt. It doesn’t have to be close.
