Leading into the game against Mainz 05, Bayern Munich announced Harry Kane’s much-awaited contract extension until 2029. The game saw Kane demonstrate why Bayern have such faith in his abilities by dropping a masterclass performance and picking up two assists in a 2-1 win. One of his assists tonight was to Joshua Kimmich for Bayern’s opener, and speaking after the game, Kimmich expressed his joy at Kane’s extension.
“Obviously, I’m delighted for the Bundesliga that he’ll continue playing here. But
I’m especially delighted for us, not just because of his goals, but also because of the kind of person he is,” said Kimmich (as captured via @iMiaSanMia). He continued: “[Kane is] one of the reasons why everything is working so well in the dressing room. He’s won the Ballon d’Or, but he’s still willing to do absolutely anything for the team. He’s someone who’s always there for every teammate, and that’s really special.”
Fans share Kimmich’s sentiment. Kane’s extension is a great sign for the future of the club, and performances like his today further reinforce the positives of the new deal.
