In the wake of the Brewers’ rapid exit in the NLCS, the talk of the town has been if the Brewers should (or would) trade ace Freddy Peralta.
Peralta, 29, has been a mainstay in Milwaukee’s rotation for the last several years. After a solid start to his career, he signed a five-year deal for $15.5 million that took him through the 2025 season. That contract also came with a club option for $8 million for 2026, which the Brewers are sure to pick up in the coming weeks.
However, because of Milwaukee’s recent history of trading star pitchers before the end of their contracts (Corbin Burnes in 2023-24 offseason, Devin Williams in 2024-25 offseason), it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of rumors swirling about Peralta’s future with the Brewers.
He’s coming off his third consecutive 200-plus strikeout season, while also pitching to a career-best 2.70 ERA and paired with a 3.65 FIP across 176 2/3 innings, also a career-high mark.
We’re asking fans in this week’s poll if the Brewers should trade Peralta this offseason, with a few caveats added.
The team could trade Peralta to begin a rebuild (something that seems unlikely given former GM David Stearns’ past comments on “bites of the apple”); the team could trade Peralta and prioritize the near-future if the price is right; the team could wait to trade Peralta until the trade deadline (either a la Josh Hader or assuming the team isn’t in playoff position); or the team could make one final postseason push with their ace (a la what happened with Willy Adames in 2024).
What do you think the Brewers should do with their ace? Answer the poll below and stay tuned for results later this week!
