Harold Fannin Jr. has been an important player to watch on the Cleveland Browns’ offense to start the season, and his impressive performance streak continued against the Carolina Panthers. In the Browns’ 21-18 win over the Panthers, Fannin Jr. recorded seven receptions for 51 yards and two touchdowns. It was another great showing that continued to show his role on this Cleveland offense.
One of Fannin Jr.’s touchdowns came during a crucial fourth-quarter drive, further showing that the moment is never
too big for him. He contributed when it mattered most. It is highly likely that the Browns will find themselves in similar situations throughout the rest of the season. There will be close games and moments where the offense has to find a way to make a play. Fannin Jr. establishing himself as a reliable tight end and pass catcher could be the difference in some of these one-score games.
After a rookie season where he had 72 receptions, 731 yards, and six touchdowns, all team highs, Fannin saw additions to the Browns passing game in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. The second-year tight end may not get over 100 targets this year, but his value to the team will continue to rise, as we saw in Week 3.
It is still very early in the season, and there is a lot of football left to be played, so Fannin’s contributions could definitely change. These early weeks have been very promising, though, for the connection between him and quarterback Deshaun Watson.
