Seemingly, the Desert Dogs spent all the runs they had for this week on Monday’s 13-12 loss because they needed a shutout performance from their pitching staff to beat the Rafters 1-0 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, no Dodger pitcher was involved in this outstanding performance from Glendale, with just the four position players in the starting lineup.
Hits were nearly as scarce as runs for the Desert Dogs, with leadoff batter Eduardo Quintero responsible for one of the two they had as a team in nine innings.
Charles Davalan, Chase Harlan, and Anson Aroz had forgettable performances, combining to go 0 for 9. Aroz in particular struggled heavily against Rafters pitching, striking out in each of his three at-bats.
Focusing on Quintero once again, it’s been a trying campaign for him in the Arizona Fall League with the second-lowest batting average on the team (.167). At least somewhat positively, Quintero has flashed a good eye, leading the team with walks (11), and the four stolen bases he has accumulated this week leave him successful in five of five attempts.

Wednesday schedule
The Desert Dogs will need yet another outstanding performance by their pitching staff to handle the Javelinas, who have scored double-digit runs in both of their games this week. Glendale and Peoria have a matchup scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (PT).
