Nebraska 3 vs Oregon 0- 25-21, 25-20, 25-13
Nebraska remains unbeaten at home not just this season but since 2022. The last home loss was November 6th of 2022! As for the 2025 season, Nebraska is 22-0 and
on top of that the Husker haven’t lost a set this season since September 16th against Creighton. They have swept 13 teams in a row.
There are some clear up sides to winning, winning convincingly and winning a lot. There are also a few things to be aware of when a team is winning. You can hear the concern in the media questions when they ask Coach Busboom Kelly how she is keeping the team focused and what is she talking about with her players to keep them on their toes. You worry about complacency. You think about how the psyche of a team can morph from confident to overconfident.
Coach DBK doesn’t see it and as one of the team captains, Rebekah Allick isn’t worrying about staying focused, she is just doing it and watching her teammates do it too. The coaching staff does try to switch practice up to challenge the team, but Coach DBK says that this team is hungry and pushes each other to keep getting better.
Regardless of all this good news on Nebraska winning yet still working hard to get better, it is great to see them face adversity and push through it. Oregon came into the Devaney Center and challenged the Huskers. They served them aggressively, hit their attacks with some heavy and powerful arm swings and blocked the ball well.
For two solid sets, Oregon played with Nebraska and pushed them to earn points. The best thing we saw Nebraska do today was to turn up the volume and their level of play once they got to 20 points. Those last five points of the match are high level play time. Those points need execution and elimination of errors. Close the set. Do it on demand from 20 points to 25.
The next best thing we saw Nebraska do against Oregon was demonstrate their ability to win with a variety of players leading the way. Today Taylor Landfair led the way with 11 kills, two blocks and hit .450. She was a go to player and delivered on a variety of shots to earn her kills. The Oregon defense was kept off balance by her variety and unable to slow her down.
Virginia Adriano also led the team earning seven kills, three blocks and hit extremely high efficiency, .600. Harper Murray was charged with the toughest blocking assignment against Oregon’s opposite hitter, Alanah Clemente.
Murray understood the assignment and held Clemente to a .077 hitting percentage. On the opposite side of the ball, Murry used the Clemente block over and over to earn her kills by hitting off hands. Murray had nine kills on 23 swings.
Next up for Nebraska volleyball is Illinois at home on Thursday, November 6th at 7 pm on FS1.
