TCU senior wide receiver Eric McAlister was a one-man wrecking crew during Saturday’s Iron Skillet win over SMU. Despite a slow first half, the former Boise State transfer completely took over in the second half, finishing the 35-24 victory with a season-high eight catches for a staggering 254 yards and three touchdowns. As a result of his outstanding performance, McAlister has garnered numerous regional and national accolades including the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor and the Walter
Camp National Player of the Week on offense.
McAlister, who was also named Campus2Canton’s Week 4 Player of the Week, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week and the East-West Shrine Bowl Offensive Player of the Week, established a new career high in receiving yards for one game (254) and moved into second on TCU’s all-time list for receiving yards in a single game. On the season, McAlister now has 13 catches for 320 yards (24.6 yards per catch).
His average yards per catch now ranks 13th among all wide receivers in college football. McAlister, whose touchdown receptions on Saturday included a 70-yarder, averaged 19.5 yards per catch last season, when he posted 39 grabs for 762 yards and five touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound receiver from Azle, Texas is putting the college football world on notice.
