Two-time TNA World champion Mike Santana teased yesterday (July 15) as a big day. It wasn’t The Big Day many were hoping for — official confirmation that the rumors about the 35-year-old Bronx-born Boricua signing with WWE are true. But the video looking back at emotional moments from the past two years of his career felt like a goodbye to TNA, and the promotion essentially confirmed that today by removing Santana from its roster page:
The last moments of his video had Santana dropping quotes from
Cody Rhodes and the late Nipsey Hussle designed to give us unofficial confirmation that the rumors about him signing with WWE are true.
Speculation about a possible appearance this weekend when WWE is in the Big Apple for Saturday Night’s Main Event has been swirling ever since. The latest word doesn’t totally put the kibosh on that scenario, but it’s not a debut date. It is even more confirmation that Santana will be somewhere in the WWE full-time before too long though… and it doesn’t rule out a Madison Square Garden debit Saturday night.
WrestleVotes was back today with their Radio show for Fightful Select, and Votes’ WWE sources expect Santana to sign with the company before the end of the summer. One of those said they’d be surprised if he wasn’t on WWE programming “relatively soon.”
So my man Manolo has a question for you in The Feed…
… and we’ll ask that you share any other thoughts on Santana’s anticipated WWE arrival in the comments below.
