Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
NFL Betting 2025: Best RB props to target in Week 1 – PFF To make matters worse, the Cowboys‘ offensive line enters the season with major questions around health and continuity. Three of the unit’s most important pieces — Tyler Smith, Tyler Guyton and rookie Tyler Booker — have yet to play a single snap together. Smith and Guyton have both missed time in camp due to injuries, with Guyton only recently returning to practice for the first time since July.
While both are expected to suit up in Week 1, their effectiveness — particularly without in-game reps together — remains a major concern. Booker, meanwhile, may take time to settle in as a run blocker. He was drafted primarily for his pass protection skills—his 88.2 PFF pass-blocking grade stood out in college—while his 63.9 run-blocking grade highlights an area still in development. Balancing health and cohesion is always tricky in the preseason, but with so many new faces along the line, Dallas may have leaned too far away from the latter. That could leave them facing an uphill battle in the run game come Week 1.
Eagles-Cowboys preview: Five things to watch – PhillyVoice
That Tyler Booker 10-yard split… Yeesh. That’s like, civilian speed. Still, the interior of the Cowboys’ O-line could (maybe should?) be fine. The tackles? Yuck. 🤢 At RT, Terence Steele signed a five-year deal worth $82.5 million during the 2023 offseason after a very good 2022 season. He has since been a below-average starter, allowing 17 sacks over the last two seasons, per PFF. At LT, Tyler Guyton started as a rookie in 2024, and finished second in the NFL with 18 penalties. PFF had him down (very generously) for 6 sacks in 2024. He got benched multiple times during the season. If there were a player that the Cowboys really needed to have a good training camp this summer, it was Guyton, but he broke a bone in his knee and missed the bulk of camp. Guyton has since returned to practice in a limited capacity, and may or may not play Week 1. If Guyton can’t play, 2024 seventh-round pick Nate Thomas (0 career snaps) will likely start in his place. Personally, I would take any other tackle tandem in the NFC over Guyton and Steele. With the Cowboys likely to give Booker a lot of help against Jalen Carter on the interior, expect Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt to have one-on-one opportunities all night against these tackles.
Eagles injury news: Positive updates on Landon Dickerson and Andrew Mukuba – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles won’t issue their first official Week 1 injury report until Monday afternoon but there were multiple updates to be gleaned from the media-attended portion of Sunday’s practice. Let’s sort through the news on a player-by-player basis.
Eagles LT Jordan Mailata quips that it’s a ‘sigh of relief’ to face Cowboys sans Micah Parsons – NFL.com
Philly left tackle Jordan Mailata was asked Sunday about facing the Cowboys without Parsons. “Sigh of relief,” he said, chuckling, via Tim McManus of ESPN. “I say that as a joke, but at the same time, it’s just kind of crazy. The last four or five years that we’ve played the Dallas Cowboys, we’ve come up with a game plan because Micah’s a gamer. It is a sigh of relief that you don’t have to plan like that anymore. However, that is a talented D-line and a challenging defense. You’ve got to treat them with the same respect, with or without Micah Parsons. They’ve got Kenny Clark there. He’s been in the league a long time. He’s a great bloody player. So, now we’ve got to figure out how he affects our game plan and how we control that.”
Cowboys vs. Eagles: Week 1 matchups to watch – Blogging The Boys
WR George Pickens vs. Eagles CBs: George Pickens’ NFL debut with the Cowboys is something all of us are probably chomping at the bit to see. His addition to Dallas’ offense is expected to take them to an entirely different level. Not only is he supposed to help take the pressure off of CeeDee Lamb, but he also opens up the rest of the passing game for everyone else around him, and the same goes for the running game as well due to his ability to stretch the field vertically. He could matchup in the season opener against the Eagles second-year CB Quinyon Mitchell if Lamb gets a lot of play in the slot. While Mitchell looks like an up-and-coming CB, Pickens has already proven he’s a nightmare to contain one on one.
Trevon Diggs still unsure about opener, Tyler Guyton expects to play Thursday – PFT
Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs had another full practice session on Sunday, but it looks like a call on his status for Thursday’s game against the Eagles will have to wait a little longer. Diggs returned to full practice participation last week and he told reporters on Sunday that he continues to work without any limitations as he makes his way back from last year’s knee surgery. He said he remains unsure about whether he will be on the field against the Eagles, so the next few days of practice will be telling.
Who to draft with the No. 1 pick in fantasy football – SB Nation
Judging by current ADP trends, No. 1 pick holders are generally avoiding Saquon Barkley and with good reason. For starters, it’s fair to assume that he will not duplicate the historic season that he just had on the ground. Considering that he clocked nearly 500 touches in the regular season and playoffs combined, the Eagles will most likely want to preserve him for another deep postseason run by lessening his load. It should also be noted that the prior three NFL rushing champions (Jonathan Taylor, Josh Jacobs, Christian McCaffrey) all had follow-up campaigns where they failed to crack 1,000 yards due to injury. Taking Saquon at No. 1 is tempting, but certainly comes with a ton of risk.
NFL team previews 2025: Predictions, rankings, depth charts – ESPN
Bold prediction for 2025: Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo — who has zero career sacks — will record at least 5.0 sacks and finish in the top 10 in pass rush win rate. We saw the success Milton Williams had playing next to Jalen Carter, and there are already positive signs for Ojomo: He posted a 13% pass rush win rate at defensive tackle last season, which would have ranked seventh at the position had he played enough to qualify.
After summer of competition, is Eagles rookie Drew Mukuba ready to start? – NBCSP
It might be Thursday. If not, it might be Week 2 in Kansas City or Week 3 vs. the Rams. It’s going to happen. It’s just a matter of when. The Eagles didn’t draft Andrew Mukuba in the second round to ride the bench, and a couple injury spells during training camp might have delayed his ascension into the Eagles’ starting lineup but it’s going to happen sooner or later. “I feel ready,” Mukuba said after practice on Sunday. “I’ve been preparing just like everybody else. I’ve been putting in extra hours, extra time, just like everybody else, and that’s just for me to be ready and be confident whenever it is my time to play.” Mukuba split 1st-team reps with Sydney Brown most of the summer, but on Aug. 18 he got every rep, a strong sign that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had picked him to start the opener. A day later, he suffered a hamstring injury and didn’t return to practice until Sunday.
NFL decision-makers’ predictions for 2025: Joe Burrow goes nuclear, Lions stumble and more – The Athletic
BEST DEFENSIVE PLAY-CALLER: Vic Fangio dominated the ballot after leading an Eagles turnaround in his first season on the job in Philly. They went from allowing the third-most points in the NFL in 2023 to the second-fewest under Fangio, a football lifer with an old-school edge.
Boyz II Men set to sing the National Anthem at Cowboys vs. Eagles – PE.com
Moments before the Eagles and Cowboys kick off the 2025 NFL season on Thursday night, iconic Philadelphia band Boyz II Men will take the field. The group is set to sing the National Anthem at Lincoln Financial Field, and while all three members are Philly natives, Wanya Morris has a special connection to the Eagles. When the conversations of Boyz II Men singing before the opener started, the band’s manager, Joe Mulvihill, knew he didn’t even have to ask Wanya.
Artist’s bald eagle painting celebrates Philadelphia Eagles’ iconic spirit ahead of home opener – CBS News
With the Eagles’ home opener against the Dallas Cowboys just days away, one local artist is flying high — preserving the team’s iconic status through a soaring symbol: the bald eagle. Hayden Richard, a Chester-based painter, began a bold piece long before the Eagles lifted the Lombardi Trophy — envisioning a massive bald eagle bringing the championship home. “This big bald eagle is coming home,” Richard said, spreading his arms like wings. “Before the Eagles won the Super Bowl, I started painting this.”
Jeffrey Lurie has built the Philadelphia Eagles into a model NFL franchise – Sports Business Journal
When discussing league policy, Lurie comes back repeatedly to officiating. He doesn’t deny it’s personal. In Super Bowl LVII in 2023, the Eagles were on the wrong end of a controversial defensive holding call late in the fourth quarter that helped the Chiefs run out the clock before kicking the game-winning field goal in a 38-35 final. “I’m still bitter about not winning that game because of a call that got made,” he said. Lurie calls bad officiating a threat to fans’ basic enjoyment of the sport and says training officials must be a top priority. “It’s a vulnerability in the league,” he said. “It’s probably a vulnerability in every league, but the NFL is so watched, and so easily replayed. You just don’t want to see games turn on either the misallocation of a resource, a flag — like, why are you throwing it there and not 20 other times in the game? — or just improper visual decision-making.”
What are the odds? The Washington Commanders are home favorites against the New York Giants – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders are entering Year 2 of the Adam Peters/Dan Quinn/Jayden Daniels era, and they kick it off with a home game against a division rival. The New York Giants are coming to Northwest Stadium, and they are big underdogs. They were 3-14 last season, and last place in the NFC East, while Washington went to the NFC Championship Game in the first year of the team’s recalibration. The Commanders swept the Giants last season, and will be looking for a repeat. The first game was won with 7 Austin Seibert field goals(21-18), and was Jayden Daniels’ first NFL win. Washington traveled to New Jersey for game 2, and went home with a 27-22 win. The Giants have moved on from QB Daniel Jones, signing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and drafting Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in the first round. They also used their first first-round pick to add more talent to their defensive line, drafting Penn State LB Abdul Carter.
6 keys to a successful New York Giants season – Big Blue View
Veteran receiver Darius Slayton said the message from Wilson is “always encouragement” and that he is a “very positive person.” Considering where the Giants have been in recent seasons, that positivity is a good thing to be around. So, too, is it a good thing for the Giants — maybe the best thing — that Dart has looked like the real deal throughout the spring and summer. Whenever Dart becomes the starting quarterback, he has provided the organization with optimism that they were right about trading up with the Houston Texans to select him No. 25 in the draft. As for when Dart will play, the Giants have consistently said that Wilson is QB1 and are not committing to anything. “The timeline will be the timeline however it works out,” Schoen said. Winston, a former No. 1 overall pick who has become a journeyman, can be overlooked with Wilson as the starter and Dart as the future. Watch practices and listen to teammates talk about him, though, and you realize Winston is more than just a funny guy. He is that, but he is also a player who holds his teammates accountable and is a good influence on Dart.
