Welcome back to another edition of our Brewers Reacts Survey! In this week’s poll, we’re asking which area of the team fans are most worried about for the postseason: the offense, the starting rotation, or the bullpen.
While the Brewers boast the best record in baseball at 91-56 with just 15 games to go, there are still a few areas of concern
in each facet of the game.
On offense, while the Brewers rank fourth in team OPS and third in runs scored, they still rank dead last in homers, meaning “the big hit” may be hard to come by in key situations this postseason (Jackson Chourio’s game-tying homer on Tuesday night notwithstanding).
For the starting rotation, after it looked like Milwaukee had a solid combination with Jacob Misiorowski, Logan Henderson, Kyle Harrison, and some combination of Dustin May, Shane Drohan, and Robert Gasser, it suddenly looks more like Miz and Henderson are the 1-2 punch, but the rest of a potential playoff rotation is unknown. Harrison has struggled mightily over his last few outings (particularly on the road), while May hasn’t found much consistency, and Drohan and Gasser, while holding their own, are nothing flashy.
For the bullpen, it’s the middle-relief options. While the team has Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill to close things out (though Megill is also coming off a rough series against the Cubs), the guys who bridge from the rotation to them are a bit less clear. Aaron Ashby and Chad Patrick have both been solid but also had their share of struggles, as have deadline acquisitions JoJo Romero and Antonio Senzatela. DL Hall has also shown flashes of his potential. But still, plenty of question marks.
