And then there was one.
New York Giants 10th overall pick, and starting right guard, Francisco Mauigoa has signed his rookie contract. The contract, a 4-year fully-guaranteed deal worth $30.958 million, including an $18.9 million signing bonus.
Signing rookies is (usually) a much less painful process for teams than it was in years prior. Where teams used to have to negotiate with rookies, their salaries are now set according to draft slot by the rookie wage scale. There can be some friction with the precise
wording of contracts and offsetting language. However that doesn’t seem to be the case with Mauigoa or any of the Giants’ rookies signed so far.
Sisi became the Giants’ fifth draft pick to sign his rookie deal after CB Colton Hood, WR Malachi Fields, DT Bobby Jamison-Travis, OL JC Davis, and EDGE Jack Kelly signed their contracts earlier in the off-season program.
Mauigoa signing his rookie deal leaves only 5th overall pick LB Arvell Reese as the only member of the Giants’ draft class unsigned.
The Giants have also waived OL Reid Holskey as a corresponding roster move to the signing of DT Josh Tupou.
