The Cleveland Browns continue to keep things moving on their roster, as NFL trade rumors and deals start to heat up. On Monday, the Browns activated QB Dillon Gabriel from injured reserve and waived seventh-round TE Carsen Ryan. As of now, as reported previously, Cleveland plans on running with four quarterbacks on their active roster, which can create some needs in other areas.
GM Andrew Berry and HC Todd Monken could help offset those needs by how they use the practice squad, including for game-day
elevations. On Tuesday, the Browns made three practice squad-related moves, which leaves an open spot on that part of the roster:
- Signed DE Nadame Tucker
- Released RB Jaret Patterson
- Released S John Saunders
Tucker was released from Cleveland’s practice squad last week to make room for DT Eric Johnson II.
It is possible that the currently open practice squad spot will go to Ryan if he clears waivers.
While Gabriel was activated from injured reserve, the Browns did not do the same with DT Kalia Davis which now sidelines him on IR for the rest of the season:
It is possible that Davis’ inability to return spurs trade action from Berry before the November 10th deadline. Davis was expected to play a role at nose tackle for the Cleveland defensive line.
