The Missouri men will compete at the Bryson Invitational, playing 54 holes from Oct. 12–14 at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami.
The course
Teams will compete on the famous Blue Monster course, which has hosted PGA Tour events for 55 consecutive years and multiple LIV Golf Team Championships.
The par-72 course is filled with water features, so Mizzou has been practicing with imaginary water hazards around fairways and greens, said Mizzou head coach Glen Millican.
The team
The lineup includes senior Veikka Viskari,
junior Trent Mierl, freshman Antoni Hawkins, junior Paxton Maxwell and sophomore Esteban Cruz Bonilla.
The team is coming off a 14th-place finish in New Mexico two weeks ago where Hawkins led the Tigers with an even-par finish.
This is Mizzou’s first time competing at this tournament, but Viskari has previously played on the course.
The competition
The tournament will feature 12 Division I teams from across the country. Mizzou is the only SEC school to compete.
Grand Canyon University placed eighth at the William H. Tucker Invitational, six places above Mizzou. Florida Gulf Coast is coming off a win at its own West Bay Collegiate Invitational last week, where Troy and Stetson tied for third place.
