Bayern Munich star Michael Olise has ripping up the World Cup for France, as the talented attacker has six assists, while his team is just punishing any squad in its path.
In the background of that success, however, have been steady transfer rumors all summer and some weird social media maneuverings. With links to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, there is — at least — somewhat of a threat that the 24-year-old could have a wandering eye.
Maybe, though, more money and a bigger platform are not at the
heart of what could conceivably be driving Olise to — allegedly — ponder an exit from Bavaria.
According to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, Olise might be thinking about a new challenge:
The Michael Olise situation is getting a little bit dangerous for Bayern Munich. There are rumours around the Frenchman, where the people around him are allegedly saying that he knows he can always win the league with FC Bayern, but he’s already done this, and now he has the DFB Pokal also under his belt. The Champions League, meanwhile, is perhaps a little more difficult to win at Bayern Munich. There are rumours he’d like to make a transfer somewhere else, and that Real Madrid is the club he should be dreaming of. Olise doesn’t talk much, so you never know if the rumours are true. Still, the people who are talking are supposedly really close to him. This could be a problem for Bayern, because everyone knows that dissatisfied players are not good players.
Some fans might think this is just fear-mongering (and they could be right), but Falk added in one more sentence of caution to everyone expecting Olise to ink a big contract extension with Bayern Munich in the coming months:
I don’t see the France international signing a new contract at Bayern in the near future.
The statement is open-ended, no doubt, as the near future could be defined in different ways. What this report from Falk tells us is that maybe — just maybe — the stories we have seen all summer could have at least a little validity.
When you factor in that Olise has already scrubbed any Bayern Munich pics and references (he does not even list FC Bayern as his club team) from his social media, this could actually be a situation worth monitoring a little closer.
