Two-time Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will make his long-awaited return to boxing following his jaw-breaking win over Jake Paul in Dec. 2025 (see it again here) to face off against Kristan Prenga in what can only be described as a questionable fight. We know the plans are for Joshua to face Tyson Fury later this year, so why they put “A.J.” and Fury up against fighters with nothing to lose a day apart from each other is beyond me. As we know, anything can happen in the fight game, so one big punch sneaks in and it can be lights out for either man and the mega-fight goes down the drain. After all, they are far too-experienced to need warm up fights. Nevertheless, Fury already held up his part of the deal and now it’s up to Joshua to do his part. Yes, the big man is the heavy favorite and will likely get the job done against Prenga because his resume is light years ahead of Prenga’s. He’s taken on and defeated some of the best, and his losses only came against the cream of the crop like Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois and Andy Ruiz. Prenga, meanwhile, doesn’t have a big name win on his resume, though he does have an undefeated mark of 20-0, with only one knockout. We know this is nothing more than a softball toss for Joshua in hopes of him hitting a home run to setup the Fury clash, but begs the question:
Why even risk it?
That said, there are two other title fights on this card as Hamzah Sheeraz (23-0) defends his WBO super middleweight title against Simon Zachenhuber, while Josh Kelly (18-1) defends his IBF junior middleweight strap against Caoimhin Agyarko (18-0), so it makes up for the terrible headlining matchup. It also somewhat justifies DAZN charging $60 for this event. And even that is big money for not so many big names.
How The Undercard Looks:
Reito Tsutsumi vs. Alvino Herrera
Tsutsumi is a promising 23-year-old Japanese southpaw prospect with a record of 4-0 with three knockouts. He has a strong amateur background, however this is his first 10-round fight and goes up against a much more experienced fighter in Alvino Herrera, who is 18-0-2. The 27-year-old Mexican veteran known as “Cobra” has solid experience and power and is looking to not be a stepping stone for a hot prospect.
Oleksandr Khyzhniak vs. Lenny Patrach
Khyzhniak is a Ukrainian prospect taking part in his second pro fight after earning a knockout win in his debut. He has Olympic-level amateur pedigree, but he has a long way to go as he is just starting off in his pro career. In this 175-pound fight, he is facing Patrach, a French fighter with a undefeated record of 8-1. It’s an early test for Khyzhniak but is still a very winnable fight for the prospect.
Mikie Tallon vs. Orlando Pino
Tallon (14-0) is one of the better young European prospects at super flyweight. Pino (17-3) has considerably more professional experience and has faced tougher opposition than most undefeated prospects. Tallon is expected to be the quicker, more polished boxer, while Pino will likely try to make it physical.
Nishant Dev vs. Cesar Diaz
Dev is an outstanding amateur from India with an undefeated record of 6-0 and has transitioned smoothly into the pros with four knockouts. Diaz (10-2), meanwhile, is a technically sound southpaw with excellent footwork and heavy body punching. Diaz has enough experience to hand Dev his first-ever loss, so this should be a fun fight.
Jacob Bank vs. Pawel August
Bank is an undefeated (19-0) Danish prospect with heavy hands. With 11 knockouts on his resume he is known to have an aggressive style and is riding high after racking up several impressive wins over solid opponents. August, meanwhile, is also undefeated at 18-0. The British veteran has the experience with nice technique that has helped him secure seven knockouts. He has great IQ in the ring, so this fight should be a nice battle between two undefeated men looking to secure a title shot.
Ziyad Almaayouf vs. Frank Mango
Almaayouf is a very athletic 147-pound fighter with fast hands and good fundamentals. He has a record of 7-1-1, so he is still very much a work in progress and developing his skills as a pro. He will be facing a tough Mexican-born fighter in Mango, who is 8-1 who knows only one thing: Come forward and swing. He can make fights ugly so Amaayouf better bring his hard hat to the ring because it’s going to be a tough day on the job.
Sultan Almohammad vs. Efren Besalduch
Almohammad is a Young Saudi prospect at the ripe age of 18. It’s still obviously very early in his career but is undefeated at 4-0. Besalduch, meanwhile, is a Spanish veteran with three wins, three losses and a draw, a classic journeyman opponent. This will likely end early in Almohammad’s favor as he is the heavy favorite.
Omar Hikal vs. Brian Castellano
Hikal (1-0) and Castellano (2-1) are two very inexperienced fighters simply looking to climb up the ladder. A win here for either man obviously is great, but it will still be a long road ahead for them before they can start getting big fights and paydays. This is a classic matchup between two prospects to see who can take the next step up.
Who Needs A Win Badly:
Zapata has lost far more often than he’s won with a horrible record of 5-9-1 and has typically served as an opponent for developing fighters. He looks to get back on track and shed that “stepping stone” label ahead of his 140-pound fight against up-and-comer Mabrouk, who has a record of 1-0.
Interest Level: 7/10
Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Simon Zachenhuber
Sheeraz on the vacant WBO title in May 2026 with a dominant 2nd-round KO over Alem Begic. He has proven to be a powerful puncher as evidenced by his previous knockout win over Edgar Berlanga (highlights), and one more win for him could set him up for his long-awaited fight against Canelo Alvarez should he get his first title defense. As for Zachenhuber, the 28-year-old German southpaw is experienced and is coming off a quick turnaround after a recent stoppage win this past June. At 28-1, he is looking to upset the masses and secure his first-ever world title. With 18 knockouts on his resume, he has proven he has the skills to get it done. Sheeraz is a heavy favorite in the co-main event as he has youth, power, size, and momentum on his side in his first title defense. Zachenhuber brings grit and experience but is seen by many as a voluntary defense pick.
Josh Kelly vs. Caoimhin Agyarko
32-year-old Sunderland southpaw Josh Kelly won the IBF title in January 2026 via majority decision over Bakhram Murtazaliev. He is an excellent pure boxer with movement, timing, and high ring IQ that makes him a threat for anyone standing across from him. He is set to make the first defense of his IBF Junior Middleweight title against Agyarko, the 29-year-old striker from Belfast. “Black Thunder” us unbeaten at 18-0 and is as tough, and resilient as they come and is looking for the breakthrough fight of his career. He has the opportunity of a lifetime here, but he will have to bring his “A” game if he wants to hand Kelly his first loss just the second loss of his pro career.
