There was a noticeable absence when the Seattle Seahawks began practice on Friday but thankfully, it’s not cause for long-term concern.
Running back Jadarian Price, the team’s first-round pick in April’s draft, was not out on the field with the team to end the week. His absence was due to “lower-body soreness,” a team spokesperson explained, according to The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell.
While rest and management is entirely understandable, and logical, so early in the preseason, the Seahawks can’t afford
to be down another running back for an extended period.
Zach Charbonnet is still on the physically unable to perform list, after he tore his ACL in the Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers, while second-year back Jacardia Wright missed a string of practices with a leg injury. Seattle’s even had to bring in a second fullback, with Robbie Ouzts injured as well.
Prior to Friday’s absence, Price has been a camp darling, with his dynamism — and head coach Mike Macdonald’s excitement — captured by Hard Knocks.
With the Seahawks headed to Lumen Field on Saturday for Football Fest, the hope is Price is back on the field with his teammates and ready to make his debut at the stadium he’ll call home.
