German’s Cup competition is back (for Borussia Dortmund). A week late thanks to the Supercup, but not short of any potential excitement, BVB will once again look to raise what should be their most achievable trophy. The opponent, HEBC Hamburg, are a fifth division side. It will be an exciting event for them to host a club of Borussia Dortmund’s caliber, and they will certainly give the match 110% effort.
BVB bring with them a mix of youth and experience, leaving Gregor Kobel at home, but still traveling
with the likes of Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton. After hosting and beating big Hamburg (HSV), BVB should be in fairly good spirits heading into the match.
Predicted Lineup
After Samuele Inacio’s unfortunate red card at the weekend, I’d really like to see Kovac give him the start in this match. It would go a long way to bolster the Italian’s confidence. Kaua Prates should start as well after getting his Bundesliga debut, and certainly Joey Veerman could use ninety minutes with his new side.
Reggiani is listed in the matchday squad, but likely will not travel as he is being courted for a deadline day move to Southampton. I expect Silva will start, but if the Portuguese striker is missing, he may be on the way out of the team as well.
Prediction
HEBC will certainly be in it to win it, but they are a small, regional side. BVB should be able to use this opportunity to build further match chemistry and rotate the squad.
