At one point in time, it seemed like the race for Favour Ibe was down to Florida International and Villanova. But as of late, Tennessee and Virginia started getting involved with the four-star recruit. Ibe has since made his decision
official, choosing the Cavaliers over Villanova and others.
With the reported return of Nico Onyekwere, Ibe may have viewed Virginia as a more sure-fire opportunity for a role right away, even if it’s as a backup. Villanova is reportedly heavily in on Italian center Luigi Suigo. The 7’3” big man is currently testing the NBA Draft waters at the combine, which will take place from May 10-17.
The Wildcats are still in need of a starting center in all likelihood, and Ibe probably wouldn’t have been that. That said, it’s one less option available at this point in the offseason.
