Kentucky Football safety Jordan Castell has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Castell, a 6-foot-2, 211-pound senior who transferred in from Florida this past offseason, had the game-clinching pick-six in the closing minutes to help Kentucky win its first game at Oklahoma in program history.
Additionally, in the second quarter, Oklahoma lined up for a field-goal attempt from the Kentucky 10-yard line, ran a fake, and attempted a pass into the end zone that Castell
came down with to keep the score 7-3 in favor of the Wildcats, who would go on to win 21-13.
The Orlando native added nine tackles and a pass breakup. He now leads the SEC with four interceptions and is tied for 15th among all active FBS players with seven career interceptions. He also ranks sixth in the SEC with 8.14 tackles per game.
