Paolo Vanoli shuffles the deck a bit, giving Arthur Atta and Nicolò Fagioli the day off. Christ Inao Oulaï and Marco Brescianini replace them. Marin Pongračić gets a rare chance at the back and Mateo Pellegrino returns up front, supported by Wilfried Gnonto making his first Viola start. David de Gea continues ahead of Oliver Christensen between the sticks. Paolo Bianco goes with the experienced Simone Scuffet in goal but it gets trickier in front of him. It looks like he might’ve switched from his usual
4-3-3 to a back 3 system while rotating his side quite heavily.
The biggest news, however, was from the Artemio Franchi itself. For the first time, the floodlights on the new roof over the Curva Fiesole were switched on. The fans probably won’t return to it until next year but it’s still pretty exciting to see tangible evidence of progress.
