UFC heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov has nearly 20 fights under the UFC banner, is currently ranked in the Top 5 at 265 pounds, and will compete on the UFC 333 main card this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
I guess UFC CEO Dana White didn’t get the memo.
Volkov was not on the dais for today’s UFC 333 press conference (watch the replay here) but did get a chance to ask questions from the audience. In addition to his playful banter with reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, “Drago” had an awkward
exchange with a clearly befuddled White.
Have a look:
White subsequently tried to play it off after Volkanovski revealed the Russian’s identity.
It appears White is “completely removed” from more than just contract negotiations. A few weeks back, the Boxing-minded promoter was inventing fights for a UFC headliner that never took place.
As for Volkov, he’s tasked with fighting fellow Russian Rizvan Kuniev for a spot in the 265-pound title chase.
