Another instrumental piece of the Seattle Seahawks defense is here to stay.
The Seahawks and Leonard Williams are in agreement on a three-year, $90 million with $56 million guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday morning.
He becomes the fourth and potentially final key player to sign an extension with Seattle this offseason, joining wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, cornerback Devon Witherspoon
and linebacker Derick Hall.
Williams was entering the final year of the $64.5 million extension he signed back in the 2024 offseason, his first with Seattle after he was acquired via trade with the New York Giants. The details of his new contract will come out in due time.
Unlike Witherspoon, who became the highest paid cornerback in the NFL last week after several months of negotiations, Williams’ deal comes nearly a month after he told reporters on July 27 extension talks with the team had begun.
‘Big Cat’ is coming off a season in which he finished second-team All-Pro, the first All-Pro distinction of his career. Alongside Byron Murphy II, who is extension eligible next offseason, Seattle boasts one of the most dominant interior defensive lines in all of football.
Williams’ $30 million/year average under his extension would put him tied for fifth with Vita Vea as one of the highest paid defensive tackles in the NFL. Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles has the top spot at $38 million/year.
