The NFL trade deadline is approximately five days away (Nov. 10). The Tennessee Titans are obviously sellers at the deadline following their stunning decision to trade superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears in exchange for two first-round picks and an additional fourth-round selection.
The Simmons trade poses a question: Who else will GM Mike Borgonzi look to trade before the deadline? We’ve identified three players Borgonzi should keep as opposed to trading away.
RB Tony Pollard
Tony Pollard
is the player most linked to a trade following the Simmons departure. It’s easy to understand why. Pollard has been excellent in recent weeks, rushing for five touchdowns across the previous two contests, with back-to-back 100+ rushing yard performances. The former Memphis standout is on an expiring contract, but perhaps the Titans should consider re-signing him if his current form keeps up.
DE Jacob Martin
Jacob Martin is almost certain to draw trade interest around the league. Following his 3-sack performance versus the Cincinnati Bengals, the underrated veteran is now tied for fifth in sacks (6.5) in the entire league. Martin knows this Robert Saleh defense inside-out, and he’s signed through next campaign (2027), with a reasonable cap charge of $5.5 million. He’s outperforming his contract at a team-friendly number.
CB Alontae Taylor
The Alontae Taylor situation is unfortunate. The Titans clearly miscalculated his ability to play boundary cornerback when they signed him to a three-year, $58 million contract. They’ve reversed course and made him the league’s most expensive nickelback. He was also the backup nickel in Weeks 6-8 until Marcus Harris got injured versus the Bengals. The Titans probably won’t be able to trade him. They need to continue working on the best in-house solution.
