It’s now official. Stefon Diggs is a member of the Washington Commanders.
The veteran receiver passed his physical and then signed his one-year contract. Washington formally announced the acquisition on Thursday.
This formally secures Diggs’ services following a Wednesday pact that will pay up to $12 million for the 2026 season.
The Commanders released guard Tyler Cooper in a corresponding move.

day on the camp calendar, took his physical and met many in the organization. Now he has signed his contract
Diggs is expected to practice with the Commanders for the first time on Friday morning and hold a press conference after that.
Diggs hit unrestricted free agency in March, when the New England Patriots released him after one season for financial reasons. He was excellent for them in 2025, with 85 catches for 1,013 receiving yards on just 105 targets.
The veteran receiver will offer an instant upgrade to his position group and the Commanders offense overall, as an efficient and steady productive option for quarterback Jayden Daniels. He’s the best option opposite Terry McLaurin the Commanders have featured since drafting Daniels back in 2024.
Diggs will need a ramp-up period in practice, but he has plenty of time to learn coordinator David Blough’s new offense and to build a rapport with Daniels.
It will be interesting to see how quickly Diggs fits in with the Commanders entering his 10th NFL season, following an offseason spent training in full health.
